Personally I would get a new one. They are not expensive (unless you go to BMW!). A used one could fail at any time, which would be pointless IMO.
I replaced the fan resistor on my daughter's Polo this week. Cost me £9.99 from eBay, delivered, and it fitted perfectly. VW wanted £85.00 for one!!

I bought a new one from Sytner Stevenage during February. Cost £84.79 all up, inc VAT and £8.29 postage.
Should last another 25 years!
